Combined continuum image of Jupiter at 88 and 101 GHz. This image is the first resolved synthesis image of Jupiter at millimeter wavelengths, and was constructed from two 9-hour tracks. It illustrates the rapid mapping ability of the new six-element BIMA interferometer and the successful application of self-calibration to attain a dynamic range greater than 300. The bright band at 10N latitude, corresponds to the North Equatorial Belt and is caused by a decreased opacity at this latitude.
