CARMA correlator windows

Graphical plot of window arrangements: see correlator setup help for explanations, and the correlator command help files

See also the new graphical correlator spectral line tool.

Units: GHz for frequencies, MHz for bandwidths (500, 62, 31, 8, 2), LSB or USB for sidebands (default = USB in first LO, LSB in 2nd LO)

Parameters for the frequency setup:

GHz: Primary line frequency ('fline' in the script, 80-115 GHz at 3 mm, 215-270 GHz at 1 mm)
Sideband in which line should appear (LSB or USB)
GHz: First IF frequency ('IFfreq' in the script, range 1-5 GHz, usually around 2 to 3 at 3 mm, 3 at 1 mm)

Parameters for each configband call: freqs are centers of windows (units of GHz, must be a number) in same sideband as line frequency above, they will be mirrored about the first LO frequency in the other sideband. The 2nd LO sideband option should be left as AUTO unless you know what you are doing: this will select it according to the default system behavior. It is preferable to be in the LSB of the 2nd LO, default if IFfreq<3.5.

Band 1 sky freq: GHz; Bandwidth: 2nd LO sideband:
Band 2 sky freq: GHz; Bandwidth: 2nd LO sideband:
Band 3 sky freq: GHz; Bandwidth: 2nd LO sideband:

Please wait: plotting will take a little time .......

You want to make sure that the crucial windows are in the 'good' IF ranges for the receivers (1.0-5.0 GHz at 3 mm on the new receivers, 1.0-4.0 GHz at 1 mm).

Simple 'guaranteed' 3 mm continuum setup with all bands in the 'good' IF range (usable width of 500 MHz window is 468.75 MHz):

    freq(obsFreq,USB,2.75,'none')
    configband(1, BW500, obsFreq+0.47)
    configband(2, BW500, obsFreq)
    configband(3, BW500, obsFreq-0.47)

See Dick Plambeck's page here for plots of the bandpass response for the receivers on the 6m dishes.
